‘Training for 150 women from IDPs in Burao on housekeeping skills’
The project ‘Improved livelihood for drought and conflict affected communities and IDPs in Somaliland “Training for 150 women on housekeeping skills” is the project that SYS implemented in three IDPs camps in Burro Manhal, October and Aden Saleban to help disadvantaged poor housekeepers to strength women’s participation in education opportunities to increase employment opportunities for the young women in IDP camps. Housekeeping skills was innovative and marketable skills that women living in the IDPs can get employment opportunities and skills like cookery, baby sitting, cleaning, hygiene, housekeeping skills and first aid. Gender, human rights and FGM were part of the courses on cross cutting issues. The project has focused on grassroots empowerment for young women in the IDPs for livelihood, awareness raising on FGM/C, gender and human rights on mainstreaming training program.
